What is Write3?
Write3- New Media Platform, a winner of WSYA 2011 supported by the UN Global Alliance for ICT & Development (UN GAID). Write3.com focuses on journalism using Internet and Mobiles to cover the MDGs and to report on issues related to them, to their realization or failure to be realized; addresses content excellence in terms of a fair, accurate, contextual pursuit of truth and the success in publishing the content using digital, interactive media platforms; invites young journalists and citizens to share their news and become active participants in the public interest of their community and country.
New Media and Citizen Photojournalism
'New Media' is gaining new heights every day. It includes social networks, blogs, forums, wikis, podcasts, RSS feeds, text messaging, internet based TV Radio & newspapers, innovative ways to use GIS, inter-actives and last but not the least Citizen Journalism. In new media, visualization of information is merely important, but in Citizen Journalism 'Photojournalism' is an integral part which unfolds a story using visuals to be broadcasted to a universal level.
The Workshop
The workshop combines traditional photojournalism and reporting skills with the best of new media journalism. About 150 participants from 9 public and private universities' photography club, journalism department and photojournalism institution from Bangladesh will be selected, who will learn the tools and techniques of photojournalism, how to report and create stories using new media. The Workshop will also focus on introducing new media platform and allow participants to create their own international networks. In addition to learning software skills, participants will learn to think and execute stories in true multimedia fashion and prepare for the new media newsroom. As mentioned above, leading professionals from news and photojournalism agency, journalists from mainstream media will be present as guest speakers and provide feedback and direction to the participants.
